CareCircles is the prime way we offer and receive pastoral care at Oxley-Darra Uniting Church.
At 26 January 2014 nine CareCircles function in the life of the church.
An important motivating passage of scripture for CareCircles comes from Mark 12:30-31
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.
The most important aspect of CareCircles is the neighbour-to-neighbour caring extended by CareCircle members to those neighbours either side of them on their circle. At the end of the well-known Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) Jesus asks, “Which one of these people was a real neighbour to the man who was beaten up by robbers?” The reply – “The one who showed mercy”. Jesus replies, “Go and do likewise!”
CareCircles, aided by social gatherings of circle-members three or four times a year and coordinated by Circle Supports, seeks to go and do likewise, offering neighbour-to-neighbour care in the love of Christ.
